June 8, 2020 – Last December, Klehm Arboretum & Botanic Garden participated in a fundraising campaign on Giving Tuesday with a goal of $3,540 to fulfill a wishlist for the coming season. Thanks to the generosity of our donors and supporters, we were able to not only reach that goal, but surpass it by $680 for a total of $4,220!

Our wishlist included:
  • Replacing small maples lost during the 2018/19 Polar Vortex
  • Purchasing a used golf cart for our grounds staff
  • And the rental of a tree spade to give trees in our nursery a new home.
Not only do we want to thank you all again for helping us make these projects possible, but we are also excited to be able share a few updates on them with you today!

Korean Maples – Purchased & Planted!

We were able to purchase a North Wind Korean Maple and Ice Dragon Korean Maple to add to our small maple collection with funds raised during this campaign. Both maples have been planted in Klehm’s small maple collection on the East Loop!

Golf Cart – Purchased and Delivered!

The used golf cart has been purchased and delivered to our Maintenance Shop. Klehm’s hard-working grounds staff are putting the golf cart to good use this season with their many duties – you may even see the cart in action when you visit!

Tree Spade Rental – Rescheduled for Spring 2021!

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, our plans for the tree spade rental and the rehoming of trees in our nursery were put on hold this year. We are excited to announce that the rental and plantings have been rescheduled for Arbor Day 2021 to celebrate this special holiday!

Stay tuned for more updates!
