Snowshoe Hike

Klehm Arboretum & Botanic Garden is not collecting any registrations for this event. You must register with Rocktown Adventures.

Celebrate the natural wonders of winter with a fun and unique outing in a beautiful setting as we head out to Klehm Arboretum for a Snowshoe Hike. Have some fun in the snow, meet some new people, and learn the ins and outs of the fastest growing winter sport.

Details: 1.5 – 2 hour adventure starting with some basic instruction where you will learn how to put on and take off your snowshoes, select the proper snowshoes, how to get up from a fall, select a comfortable stride for walking and stomping, and turning around. Then we enjoy a hike around Klehm.

As an added twist for this adventure, we are going to play a hand of poker, with the best hand winning a $20 Rocktown Adventures gift card. Here is how this will work. There will be 5 stops along the way. At each stop, a volunteer from Klehm is going to provide some education about the trees at that particular location. You will also receive one card at each stop. 5 stops equals 5 cards!

Location: Klehm Arboretum 2715 S Main St, Rockford, IL 61102

Price: The price for this adventure is $25 and includes snowshoes, poles, basic instruction, and a guide. For kids needing youth snowshoes (fit shoe sizes ranging from Youth 11 to Adult 5) the price is $10. We can accommodate 24 Adults and 10 Youth for this experience.

What to Bring/Wear: Please wear hard sole boots. Soft sole boots do not work in snowshoes. Dress in layers. Water or something to drink for yourself.

We need a minimum of 8 participants and the cooperation of Mother Nature to hold the snowshoe event. In the event Mother Nature does not cooperate or we fail to get the minimum amount of participants we will make a decision 24 hrs in advance. Rocktown Adventures will post on our Facebook Page and call all participants. If we cancel due to weather, you can choose to get a refund or move your reservation to another event.
