The Hurricane Project

June 25th

Whether backing up another local musician or playing in a band, Al “Hurricane” Spears can often be spotted at various Chicago Blues establishments like Buddy Guy’s Legends, Kingston Mines and Rosa’s Lounge delivering a slow blues groove or an explosive thundering guitar solo.

Al Spears has earned the respect of his fellow musicians as a friendly, reliable craftsman who knows his way around the fret board. Being a Chicago Blues musician carries the responsibility of continuing the legacy of some of the worlds renowned Blues artists, and “Hurricane” is a blues guitarist who embraces this legacy by playing promoting the Blues art form wherever he can. Klehm’s Woodsong Concerts are Ravinia-style events held in our beautiful Fountain Garden, meaning there are no reserved seats and attendees should plan to bring their own blankets, chairs or other seating. Attendees are welcome to bring their own food and drink to enjoy in a responsible manner prior to and during the concert.

A first in 2023, we are excited to announce that local favorite Gelato Joe’s will be present at each concert to offer their delicious and cool summertime treats for sale to concertgoers!

Klehm Arboretum & Botanic Garden is proud to recognize the following sponsors for helping make our Woodsong Summer Concert Series possible:
