Garden Foraging Tour

Saturday, August 10th, 2024

This session is now full – due to popularity, an additional morning session has been added! Visit the program page here to learn more and register.

Join us for a two-hour garden themed foraging tour at Klehm Arboretum & Botanic Garden with professional forager Dave Odd!

Learn about common garden and landscape weeds and mushrooms that can also be used as food and medicine. We will also learn about food and medicine uses for garden and landscaping plants that aren’t typically grown for those purposes!

Dave always guarantees that we will find 50 different edible/medicinal wild plants or mushrooms on each foraging tour. Check out his amazing accomplishments and other programs on his website here. Bring a notebook and your walking shoes and join us for this amazing educational experience. You may look at your garden in a whole new way after the tour is done!

The program will start at Clarcor Pavilion and will transition to Klehm’s Demonstration Gardens and will then explore the rest of the gardens and grounds as time allows.

*Program participants will not be eating any of the foraging finds on this tour. Participants should come prepared to sign a waiver, take notes, and learn the safety rules of foraging responsibly.*

This program is made possible by the Pauline J. and John R. Cook Lecture Fund of the Community Foundation of Northern Illinois.
